Jewish Ritual and Learning
education, service leading, lifecycle events
I love leading Jewish rituals in and out of institutional settings. I have been honored to support individuals and families with joyous song and solemn chanting at private life cycle rituals- weddings, commitment ceremonies, bnei mitzvahs, and funerals. A long time tutor and collaborator with teens in their bnei mitzvah process, I am also work with adults seeking to learn about prayer, varieties of Jewish texts, Ashkenazi music, and transform their connections to Jewishness.
I am currently seeking rabbinic ordination at Hebrew College, and co-leads monthly Kabbalat Shabbat services 3rd Fridays of the month at Kolot Chayeinu, Brooklyn (Oct-June).
To connect with me about adult or youth education, or to facilitate a lifecycle ritual send me message below, or find a time with my calendly.
“My teacher, Hadar Ahuvia, is really unbelievable. I have a sadly familiar story— a person trying to step back into the severed Jewishness of my family ancestry. Trying to learn prayer practices and a deeper relationship with divinity while being an anti-Zionist has its challenges. Hadar has brought such depth and beauty to my learning and I’m so grateful. If you’re looking for a prayer, Torah, or Hebrew teacher I really can’t recommend her enough. Working with her feels like being handed a candle or a sword—yes, yes now I have a way through.”

“Hadar was more than the officiant for our wedding — she was a dream collaborator, visionary, advocate, and champion. She brings seemingly endless generosity, patience, and curiosity to her work as a ritual facilitator, able to sit with the doubt, beauty, and complexity of inherited traditions while also forging new rituals and practices with immense creativity and joy. Working with Hadar was a fully embodied reflective and spiritual experience in which we not only articulated and affirmed our love, but found a more grounded and individualized connection with Jewish practice unlike anything we had encountered in our many years of Jewish education.”
“Hadar was a fantastic Bar Mitzvah tutor for both of our sons: caring, patient, creative and thorough. Her help was invaluable in helping them prepare for the ceremony and she was also a wonderful role model for how to lead a Jewish life.”
“Hadar was a wonderful fit for my daughter who was shy and very artistic. Hadar was able to build a strong connection that was spiritual, creative and intellectual and supported my daughter to have a meaningful, beautiful bat mitzvah experience.”
“Hadar’s deep, artistic connection to Judaism inspired and enriched our daughter. She is a wonderful tutor.”
“One of Hadar’s strengths is her innate ability to meet students where they are. She was a wonderful, warm, caring & challenging tutor to each of our sons. Each of them emerged with confidence and a better understanding of their individual connections to Judaism. ”
